Oakhurst in Your Town

As a family owned company, we try every day to be more than just the best milk on the shelf. The people who choose Oakhurst are our friends and neighbors, and it thrills us that as Oakhurst has grown, so too has our opportunity to be part of a wider community.

We appreciate the people who choose to drink our milk – that's why we donate 10% of pre-tax profits to causes benefiting kids and the environment. Keeping that pledge has enabled us to give hundreds of thousands of dollars to organizations making a difference in our community.

Everyday in New England is filled with new opportunities for families to explore, learn and have fun. And we're excited to be a part of it. So we sponsor hundreds of events across northern New England celebrating life in our community – like fairs, festivals, parades, amateur and school sports, coastal clean-up days and more!

So look for us in your town. We'll be there with our delicious, nutrient rich milks, refreshing summer drinks, or holiday favorites like egg nog. We'll also be there to lend a helping hand or to pitch in and have some fun!

Our 10% Pledge

Our pledge to donate 10% of pre-tax profits to causes benefiting kids, education and the environment forms the cornerstone of our community involvement. Keeping our pledge allows us to give hundreds of thousands of dollars each year back to the community.

So while we hope that the fresh, fresh taste and nutritional benefits of our milk is enough reason to choose Oakhurst, each time you choose our milk, rest assured we are giving something back. It's a tradition that started with our grandfather over 80 years ago, and we're proud to continue it to this day.

We Think You Should Know

At Oakhurst, we are lucky to be involved with some truly amazing organizations that are making a real difference in our community. We'd like to take this opportunity to highlight one of them.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Maine and New Hampshire

http://www.bgcmaine.org/

The Boys & Girls Clubs provide numerous programs that help kids grow, learn and mature in a safe environment. In April and May of 2003, Oakhurst donated 3 cents from the sale of every gallon and half gallon of white milk we sold to the Boys & Girls Clubs. Those pennies added up to $100,000! Those funds supported after school programs for kids at 23 club sites in Maine and NH!

Contributing our Time
Members of the Oakhurst management team donate hundreds of hours each year to serve on local boards, including the Maine Historical Society, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Portland, The Salvation Army of Northern New England, YMCA, The Iris Network, The Center for Grieving Children and more.

Maine National Guard
We want to thank all the men and women of our country's armed services who give their time, skills, and sometimes their lives – to keep us free. Oakhurst Dairy strongly supports efforts to make sure that reserve servicemen and women called up for active duty have their jobs waiting for them when they return.

Oakhurst Dairy has two employees – James Jallotta and Scott Caron – currently serving with the 133rd Engineer Battalion in Iraq.

Since deploying to Iraq in March of 2004, the Maine Army National Guard Soldiers have been working to help rebuild the infrastructure of Irbil Province, a predominantly Kurdish region of the country. In villages throughout the province, several new schools have been constructed and plans to renovate two more schools and build three new medical clinics are underway.

Oakhurst Dairy was recently honored by the Maine National Guard with an “Above and Beyond” award for the Dairy's efforts to support the troops of Maine's 133rd Engineer Battalion, including the donation of morale funds for telephone calling cards, Internet access, emergency funds for families and other activities to help troops on the ground in Iraq.

United Way of Greater Portland
We're thrilled to have 99% participation in the employee payroll deduction program. The generosity of our employees enabled us to give $100,000 to the United Way, supporting many worthy organizations in the Portland area.
