Portland, Maine – Oakhurst Dairy has launched its annual holiday campaign to support the Salvation Army of Northern New England by raising money through sales of Oakhurst Dairy Egg Nog.  This holiday season marks the tenth year of the community-focused campaign.  To date, the annual campaigns have raised and donated a total of more than $170,000 to the Salvation Army from the sale of over 3 million containers of Oakhurst Egg Nog products.

For every container of Oakhurst Egg Nog and Light Egg Nog sold during this holiday season, five cents will be given to the Salvation Army.  The money is being raised throughout this holiday season and into January 2010.

“At Oakhurst, we are committed to giving back to our neighbors and to making a difference,” noted Oakhurst Dairy Vice President Bill Bennett.  “Every day of the year, the Salvation Army touches the lives of thousands of people throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts, and our annual holiday campaign is a way for us to support their work in our communities.”

Oakhurst President Stan Bennett and Vice President of Logistics John Bennett kicked off the campaign on December 2 when they spent time as guest bell ringers at the Salvation Army’s Maine Mall kettle location.

“Oakhurst Dairy’s long-term commitment to the Salvation Army in northern New England is exemplary,” said Salvation Army Divisional Commander Major David Kelly.  “In these difficult times, we are able to provide food, clothing, and other assistance to so many people because of the generous efforts of companies like Oakhurst.”
